Challenges
The process
Before I started, I reviewed the current AfvalWijzer app as it was in 2024 and researched online for best practices to improve its user experience. I also checked the Google Play Store for all the lower-star reviews from users who were disappointed with the app. This motivated me to address those issues and improve them in my design.

Data-Driven Research:
The project kicked off with a review of the current app, using negative user feedback from sources like the Google Play Store to spot key usability issues and common pain points.
Strategic Differentiation:
A detailed competitive analysis followed, helping to gauge market standards and uncover opportunities for better user experiences and unique features.
Scalable Design System:
To keep things consistent and ready for growth, a compact design system and component library were created, serving as a single source of truth for the new visual style and making development and maintenance smoother if the project moved forward.
The result
The app now boasts a sleek, easy-to-use interface and a smartly organized information layout, all tied together with a fresh, user-focused brand identity. The aim was to position AfvalWijzer as a trusted, go-to tool that boosts user satisfaction and builds stronger connections with the community.
